"The single contains an uptempo number, Eatin' Crow, and a balad, Just a Lonesome Cowboy. The two numbers more than suggest that Doctor Django and his Nurses are not only fun but also a quartet with something more at heart. A delightfully entertaining single."
/ Niels Overgård, JazzNyt.
Doctor Django and his Nurses prescribe a fresh take on the western swing genre by adding elements of bebop jazz to a driving groove. The recipe for their particular brand of medicine is original music with substantial lyrics. The band's distinctive sound and envigorating arrangements are a trademark of their style.
Doctor Django (aka Jens Byskov Jensen), as a former resident of New Orleans, was richly marinated in that rich gumbo of the Crescent City. Those influences serve the band well. Originally, a classical violinist from the music academy, the doctor now prescribes a healthy dose of western swing!
Drummer Henrik Nielsen and Doctor Django grew up within five miles of each other and subsequently studied at the music academy together. Henrik is a proficient musician as well as a kind human being.
Enrico Rosa is a true guitar virtuoso. Originating from Italy, he has lived in Denmark since the 1970's and played with a number of notable artists and jazz personalities.
Mads Uldall-Jessen studied classical double bass at the music academy and has since then played with symphony orchestras, in theaters, as well as venturing into other genres. He has a cat named Mingus.
